Middleboro Rally Slated for Town Hall, CasinoFacts Forum to Follow, Wednesday

Tue Jul 24, 2007

Middleboro, MA - Casino opponents will rally on the grounds of the Middleboro Town Hall at 5:30pm Wednesday, prior to the 7pm CasinoFacts forum at the Middleboro VFW on Station Street near John Glass Square (a/k/a Everett Square). The rally will then proceed on foot to the VFW for CasinoFacts presentation on the real effects of a mega-casino upon a small town. All concerned citizens and news media are encouraged to attend.

To date there has been no open forum between anyone knowledgeable with the casino industry and the community - nor does one appear imminent - so CasinoFacts has taken it upon themselves to present one. Keynote speakers and information tables, as well as many CasinoFacts personnel on hand promise to make this evening an informative one.

"If you are undecided, or even slightly opinioned one way or the other, you need to come to this forum," says CasinoFacts co-director, James Reynolds.

Featured speakers at Wednesday night's forum will be: Chip Faulkner, Director, Citizens for Limited Taxation; Diane Jeffery, President, League of Women Voters; Kathy Scanlon, Executive Director, Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling and others.

"Not often do you see such diverse speakers come together to agree on a single issue," says Rich Young, principal organizer of the forum, "but these leaders agree a casino is bad for Middleboro and worse for Massachusetts."

The CasinoFacts Forum will be held July 25 at 7PM at the Middleboro VFW. For more information on CasinoFacts-PAC, or to offer feedback, please visit their website at www.casinofacts.org.
